Wednesday, Feb. 15th, 1:00-2:30pm: Special Faculty Workshop: Blogging and Social Media 101 with Chris Bishop
Ever since Plato was chasing Socrates around ancient Athens in the late 5th century B.C., writing down what he said, scholars and thinkers have been exploring ways to better share their expertise and interact with colleagues. Socrates felt strongly that Plato was breaking the rules for how information should be shared. Some people today feel that way about Twitter.
Come join us at the Roosevelt House for a session on how academics, thought leaders and scholars are using social media and blogging tools to communicate ideas and collaborate with peers and students. Christopher Bishop, Senior Communications Strategist from IBM, and a well-known social media expert, will describe how tools like Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Facebook, YouTube, WordPress and Flickr offer exciting new possibilities for academic communication and collaboration all over the world.
The session will be held at Roosevelt House, 49 East 65th Street, at 1-2:30 pm, on Wednesday, February 15. We look forward to an informative and lively discussion.
This session is free and open to Hunter College faculty, but RSVP is required.
